Lucy Cohen is a socio-cultural anthropologist specializing in medical anthropology, contemporary Latin America and Hispanics in the US, migration issues, applied anthropology, and ethnohistory. She has published studies of professional women in Colombia and Chinese in the post-Civil War US South and Latin America, and directed several research and training projects on health systems.
Currently, she is working on 19th century history emigration of Chinese from Macau to Latin America and on international migration and health among Latino immigrants in Washington D.C.
Her new book, Colombianas en la Vanguardia, which will be published in August 2001 by the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia.
